In the early years Ipoh was rich in tin ore,
known as “Tin City”,
there are very many rich people.
And this Concubine Lane,
it’s the place where you used to have a good time.
It is said that back then the tin miner Yao De Sheng,
delivered three alley stores separately,
for the first wife,
the second and third wives collect rent.
So there’s Hale Lane,
Concubine Lane and Market Lane designations.
According to folklore,
these three alleys used to be the red light district of Barrow,
a gathering place for brothels smoke houses and casinos.
After the establishment of Ipoh New Street Market,
brothels and casinos gradually moved to New Street Circuit.
After World War II,
this is the place where the tin miner’s “golden house” is hidden.
Now the “Concubine Lane” has changed its face,
over 100 years old house.
After years of silence,
made into a cultural street,
besides having handicraft stores,
B&B, souvenir stores, etc,
there are also a number of snack bars with special features.
Now this alley full of nostalgic style,
turned into a special tourist attraction in Ipoh.
